Cal Poly Pomona’s Formula SAE team has achieved a top ranking in an international race and design competition held in Michigan in May.
The team placed 14th out of 120 in the Formula SAE Series, beating out all other California colleges and universities. The team will next participate in a race in Lincoln, Neb. in late June.
Each year, the competition asks engineering students to design and build a formula-style race car from scratch. It is one of the largest engineering design competitions in the world and this year included teams from Germany, Austria, Singapore, Venezuela, Canada and India. Teams are judged not only on their racing performance, but the quality of their car design and their ability to present their concepts before a panel of judges.
