Assistance Needed to Solve Robbery, Thefts

CPP News

University Police are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying one or more suspects involved in a robbery Tuesday afternoon.

A student was sitting in the first-floor hallway in Building 2 (the College of Agriculture) about 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, when a man approached, grabbed her laptop out of her hands and fled toward a waiting car parked on University Drive. The robber’s description is similar to a suspect in two previous thefts in Buildings 3 (Science Laboratory) and 7 (College of Environmental Design). In this case, the laptop was taken directly from the victim, though she was not physically harmed.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build and what appeared to be short hair. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a long navy blue shirt that extended down his thighs and black jeans. The vehicle he fled in was a dark, older sedan, possibly a Honda Civic.

University Police encourage members of the community to be aware of their surroundings, keep valuables in a secure location when possible, avoid leaving belongings unattended, and report suspicious-looking persons or activity immediately. Anyone with possible information about the robbery or thefts should contact University Police at (909) 869-3070. Anonymous tips can be called in to a recorded line at (909) 869-3399.
