Professor Emeritus Gerald ¿Jerry¿ Wagner, computer information systems, has been selected as a Fellow by the Education Special Interest Group of the Association of Information Technology Professionals. The distinction recognizes his long-term support of the organization and its mission to improve information systems education at the collegiate level. Wagner will be inducted into the AITP-EDSIG Hall of Fame on Nov. 3 in Wilmington, N.C.
The Education Special Interest Group devotes itself to information systems education, providing educators with the latest research in educational techniques, processes and technology.
Wagner joined the Cal Poly Pomona faculty in 1966 and served as the founding chair of the business data processing department, which later became the computer information systems department. In addition to serving on the faculty, Wagner served as associate dean and dean of the College of Business Administration. He received his emeritus status in 1995 and retired from teaching in 1999.
