President’s Video Message for May 9

Posted on May 9, 2011

The CSU Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday in Long Beach and will learn the details of a possible billion-dollar cut to the CSU campuses, President Ortiz shares in his Monday video message.

Ortiz continues to urge the campus community to raise their voices to state elected representatives.

“I know I have been a broken record on this issue, but I cannot emphasize enough the impact of your voices on those that allocate our state funding,” he says. “But by the time funding reaches the Chancellor’s Office or even the individual campuses, the cards have already been dealt. If you want to create a change, talk to the source.”

Last week, Oritz and President Al Karnig of CSU San Bernardino met with the editorial leadership of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and the San Bernardino Sun. They discussed the recession’s impact on the Inland Empire, jobs and the CSU.

The president’s mesage also highlights the baseball team, Southern California Tasting & Auction and the campus’ achievements in sustainability, including an Earth Day video produced by MediaVision and the Office of Public Affairs.
