A spring career fair will give students and alumni the chance to network with professionals on Thursday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the University Quad.
“This gives students an opportunity to meet face to face with employers to discuss graduation, full-time employment, internships and career opportunities,” says Tom Munnerlyn, director of the Career Center.
The event will not only provide an opportunity to check out more than 100 potential employers, it will give students who are unsure of their career path a chance to find something that suits them. The Major Expo, which runs in conjunction with the career fair, will allow students to interact with representatives of all the colleges to see what each offers.
Prior to the career fair, alumni and soon-to-be graduates can visit the Career Center to polish their job interview and resume-writing skills. The Prep for Career Day workshop, on Tuesday, April 19 from noon to 1 p.m., will offer advice on how to be more marketable to employers. In addition, attendees will learn about the “10-second interview,” in which job seekers concisely highlight their education, interests and qualifications for employers.
Those who need help polishing their resume may attend the Resumaniac workshop on Wednesday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Employers’ representatives will review resumes and offer concrete advice on how to make a positive impression at the career fair the next day.
