President’s Video Update for April 11

Posted on April 11, 2011

The College of Business Administration has maintained its accreditation in the prestigious AACSB International organization, a distinction awarded to less than five percent of business schools worldwide, President Ortiz says in his weekly video message.

The president congratulates Lance Walkington, who has qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships in the javelin. He also invites the campus community to participate in Disability Awareness Day on Friday, April 15.

Ortiz devotes the second half of his video message to discussing this week’s meeting of the California State University Executive Council, which is composed of every CSU President, the CSU Chancellor and the Chancellor’s leadership team. Discussions will likely focus on the general fund budget, the likelihood of an additional fee increase and the impact on enrollment.

Enrollment is an especially important subject for the 2011-12 academic year, as Cal Poly Pomona and the CSU seek to balance the needs of current students, course offerings, and maintaining access to higher education for future students in the region.
