Police Seeking Help in Attempted Robbery Case

Sketch of a suspect in an attempted robbery on Oct. 25 in Parking Lot B.

The University Police Department has released a sketch of a suspect in an attempted robbery Oct. 25 in Parking Lot B. Police are asking the campus community for assistance if they have any information that may assist the investigation.

The suspect is described as male, light skinned, possibly Hispanic, approximately 6-feet tall, medium build, with short brown hair, and wearing a black sweatshirt with a white logo. No vehicle or weapon was seen.

Officers were notified Nov. 4 by a student that she was the victim of an attempted robbery. The victim was accosted while walking from her car in Parking Lot B to
her campus residence around 10 p.m. She was able to safely flee the assailant.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call University Police investigators at (909) 869-3070. Anonymous tips may be called in to (909) 869-3399.

Police have increased patrols in all parking lots and outlying areas. Police Chief Michael Guerin reminds members of the campus community to be aware of their surroundings, travel with others when practical, park in well-lighted and populated areas, and to notify University Police immediately of any suspicious persons or situations.

In addition, Parking & Transportation Services provides a safety escort service to campus destinations, including the University Village and Residential Suites. The safety escort service is available from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays during the regular school year.

The quickest ways to get help are via the Code Blue call boxes on campus or by calling the police dispatcher at (909) 869-3070. Cell phone 911 calls are routed to the California Highway Patrol. The community is urged to program the university police dispatch phone number into their mobile devices.
