Accounting Professor Advises Financial Abuse Specialist Team

David Lee Rice, associate professor in the accounting departmentDavid Rice, professor in the accounting department, spoke on Nov. 17 at the Los Angeles County Department of Community & Senior Services to the Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST) regarding elder abuse and the transference of real estate and assets. Rice discussed how individuals should transfer their assets to avoid Medi-Cal penalties and minimize tax consequences. The seminar also focused on assisting children in maximizing their tax deductions as they care for an elderly parent.
