News Segment Highlights University's Climate Commitment

Meaghan Smith talks with Tracy Young on "Local Edition" about the university's Climate Action Plan.Meaghan Smith, Cal Poly Pomona’s sustainability coordinator, appeared recently on Charter Cable’s “Local Edition” to discuss the university’s Climate Action Plan, an initiative to attain carbon neutrality by 2030.

Among the steps taken on campus are the installation of more than 4,500 solar panels installed this summer atop the Kellogg Gym and in parking lot M, the placement of recycling machines on campus that reward students for their efforts, and the commitment to ensure that new buildings meet LEED certification for environmentally sustainable design.

The four-minute segment, hosted by Charter’s anchor Tracy Young, is aired in conjunction with the cable company’s local broadcast of CNN Headline News.

The video news segment is available on the MediaVision website, along with other interviews with Cal Poly Pomona faculty and staff.

Microsoft Silverlight software is required to view the video. The links will automatically detect if it is already installed. If it is not installed, users will have the option to install it.
