University Police officers are investigating an attempted “strong-arm” robbery, which was reported around 9:55 p.m., May 5 at the University Village. According to police, a male suspect approached a victim, blocked her path and demanded money. A passing car possibly frightened the suspect, who was last seen walking toward the Temple Avenue entrance to the Village. Officers searched the area without finding him.
The suspect was described as a male, black, about 6 feet tall, close-cut hair and average build. He was described as wearing a gray “hoodie” sweatshirt with the hood over his head and dark pants. No weapon or suspect vehicle was seen.
University Police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed this crime. Students, faculty and staff should be aware of their surroundings and walk with others whenever possible.
