Pianist Victor Rosenbaum will present a free master class on Monday, May 17 from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.
Rosenbaum, a soloist and chamber music performer, has played throughout Asia, in Russia and New York and has taught master classes in London’s Royal Academy of Music, the Toho School in Tokyo and the Jerusalem Music Center. He recently released a Schubert CD on the Fleur de Son Classics label, which will be followed by a Mozart disc on the same label.
He will perform Schubert’s Fantasie with Nadia Shpachenko and Friends Chamber Music Festival in a recital at 8 p.m. the same day.
“Victor Rosenbaum’s master classes are very inspiring for the students, and his performances are breathtaking,” Shpachenko said.
Shpachenko, an assistant professor of music at Cal Poly Pomona, has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Rosenbaum was Shpachenko’s piano professor during her undergraduate studies and this will be their first collaboration.
“We are very honored and fortunate to have such a distinguished artist perform here and work with our piano students,” Shpachenko said.
Tickets for the recital are $25 for general admission and $12 for students. They are available online at http://csupomona.tix.com or at the music publicity office in Building 24, room 142, or at the door one hour before show time.
