President’s Video Message for April 5

President's Video Message for April 5

President Ortiz gives a video message on April 5, 2010.

In this week’s campus update, President Ortiz talks about the state budget process and how budget cuts have affected the campus. The Division of Student Affairs announced that in addition to the men’s and women’s tennis, the Visitor Center, CalWorks and the National Student Exchange would also close.

Budget cuts will affect everyone on campus one way or another, Ortiz says. It also hurts thousands of deserving students who may not be able to get a college degree unless state lawmakers provide more funding for higher education, he adds. He goes on to explain how the budget cuts have affected prospective students and admissions.
