Human Resources Club Among Best in the Country

2009-10 members of the Professionals in Human Resources Association.

A College of Business Administration club has continued its tradition of excellence by being named one of the best human resources student clubs in the country.

The organization, Professionals in Human Resources Association, was given the superior merit award by its national affiliate, the Society for Human Resource Management, for the 2008-09 academic year. More than 450 student clubs throughout the country are eligible for this honor, but less than one-fourth are selected.

“PIHRA has been recognized as a superior meritorious student chapter for seven out of the last eight years,” says Cheryl Wyrick, chair of the management & human resources dpartment. “This is a result of strong student leadership and commitment to providing quality learning and networking opportunities to business students.”

To earn this honor, PIHRA invited human resources professionals to speak at club meetings, organized canned food drives and participated in student recruiting events. Members also visited Cal Poly Pomona classrooms to speak on the benefits and opportunities available in human resources careers.
