Accounting Professor Focuses on Tax Issues for Elder Law Attorneys

David Rice, accounting professor, presented Nov. 19 in San Francisco on behalf of Continuing Education of the Bar. He spoke on “Elder Law and the Tax Practitioner – How to Navigate the Murky Waters.” As the population ages, more senior citizens are moving out of their homes into retirement homes, board and care, assisted living facilities and skilled nursing homes. An elder law attorney has generally been trained in MediCal laws and transferring assets, but also needs to understand the tax implications.
