Oscar-nominated singer/songwriter Mike Viola will present a songwriting master class followed by a benefit concert at Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 19.
Viola is best known for producing the signature track for the movie “That Thing You Do!” and writing songs for the “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” soundtrack. He also has an independent label, Good Morning Monkey Records, which features his and other artists’ recordings.
The free master class will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. The concert, which benefits the Music Industry Studies program, begins at 8 p.m. General admission is $15 and $10 for students.
Both events will be held in the Music Recital Hall. Tickets can be purchased at http://csupomona.tix.com or through the Music Publicity Office, Building 24, room 142. For more information, visit the music department website or contact Teresa Kelly at (909) 869-3554 or tkelly@cpp.edu.
