Cal Poly Pomona successfully tested its Safety Alert System on Friday, May 2, at 10 a.m. Faculty, staff and students received brief messages on the phones, e-mail addresses and communication devices they provided in BroncoDirect. The university tested the new Safety Alert System to ensure it is securely in place as well as to familiarize the campus community with this important emergency communication tool.

On Thursday, May 1, at about 2 p.m., a text message was sent from sms@ntigroup.com to confirm that text/SMS users are ready to receive Cal Poly Pomona Safety Alerts. This was not the Safety Alert System test scheduled for May 2 at 10 a.m. The Safety Alert System, using Connect-ED, is required to activate the SMS system with a simple confirmation message before anyone receives a message.

The largest event in NCAA Division II Track and Field will take place May 22-24 and Cal Poly Pomona will be at the forefront of the event. The Broncos will play host to the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the second time in four years at Mt. San Antonio College's Hilmer Lodge Stadium

Rosenbaum to Give Recital, Free Lecture

International performer and recording artist Victor Rosenbaum will give a free noontime lecture on May 5 and an evening recital in the Music Recital Hall on May 6 featuring works by Brahms, Schubert, Mozart and Chopin. Rosenbaum has performed worldwide as a soloist and chamber music performer.

Course Materials Requisitions Deadline

The deadline for all faculty to submit course materials requisitions for Fall 2008 courses is Friday, May 16. Submitting requisitions as soon as possible to the Bronco Bookstore reduces textbook costs for students by increasing buyback opportunities and used book availability. The online requisition system may be accessed by logging on to http://requisitions.thecampushub.com/Views/LoginView.aspx?bookstore_id=2022.
