Sharon Reiter has been named Associate Vice President of Human Resources. She takes the helm of the Human Resources department with 25 years of management experience, 18 of which have been with Cal Poly Pomona.
For the past year, she has been administrator-in-charge for Human Resources. During this time Reiter completed an interim assessment of the organizational structure and staffing requirements of the department. This has included technological equipment upgrades for the entire staff of 35 people.
“Sharon has demonstrated strong and effective leadership as the administrator-in-charge, and I am confident that she will continue to provide that effective leadership for the division and the university community in the years to come,” says Vice President of Administrative Affairs Ed Barnes.
In addition to having been administrator-in-charge, Reiter has been executive director of Administrative Affairs Special Programs and university risk manager for several years. In this position she has provided senior management oversight for risk programs and workers compensation, led a division-wide committee dedicated to quality improvement efforts and expanded a Human Resources internship program into the division-wide Learning Labs Internship Program.
Reiter earned her bachelor's degree in business management from Cal Poly Pomona. Additionally she holds the Associate in Risk Management certification from the Insurance Institute of America and the Certificate in Specialization in Risk Management from UC Riverside.
