The classic Shakespearean play runs intermittently from Nov. 9-18.

Mythical creatures and lovers run amok Nov. 9-18 in the Cal Poly Pomona production of the Shakespearean classic, A Midsummer Nights Dream.

Written at the end of the 16th century, this classic romantic comedy follows four lovers and a group of thespians on a fantasy adventure. Their journey into a moonlit forest is accompanied with an assortment of characters including royalty, nymphs and other mythical creatures.

“Midsummer is a magical mystery tour of lovers and their romp through a magical woods,” says director Linda Bisesti, acting and vocal professor. “Shakespeare is timeless and [this play] is great for actors to work on because it makes them deal with language and breathing.”

The play will be staged in the University Theatre at 8 p.m. Nov. 9-10 and Nov. 15-17. There will be two 10 a.m. matinees Nov. 13-14, and a closing matinee at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.
