Stuart Sparvier, who comes to Cal Poly Pomona by way of Oklahoma State University, has been named the new coordinator of the Native American Student Center.
At Oklahoma State, Sparvier served as program coordinator for the Multicultural Student Center where he provided co-curricular programming to meet cultural, educational and social needs of diverse students while focusing on the Native American community.
Sparvier has a great deal of experience in student affairs including residential life and has worked at several universities including the University of Regina in Canada, Kansas State University and the University of Maryland.
Sparvier earned bachelor's degrees in psychology and history from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a master's degree in counseling and student personnel services from Oklahoma State.
“Cal Poly Pomona is fortunate to have someone like Stuart with his extensive experience in student affairs and with the Native American community,” says Sunny Lee, interim director of the Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers. “We are looking forward to his new ideas to enhance the Native American Student Center.”
