Cal Poly Pomona Chemistry Professor Barbara Burke is making a big splash on the small screen in a Sept. 6 episode of “Modern Marvels.”
On July 21, a crew for the popular History Channel show interviewed and filmed Burke at a lab in Building 4. During roughly seven hours of filming, she demonstrated how water is attracted to static electricity, why ice floats, and how the surface tension of water is so great that it enables a piece of steel to float.
“This was a great opportunity to share my love of science with the general public and to experience the making of a TV show from the inside,” Burke said.
The show will air at 8 p.m./7p.m. central. For more information visit: http://www.history.com/minisites/modernmarvels/
