In Memoriam: Agricultural Engineering Professor Emeritus Joseph Hung
Professor Hung receives his Emeritus Award from then President Suzuki in 1997.

Dr. Joseph You-Tsai Hung, a professor emeritus of Agricultural Engineering and Irrigation Science, died on Aug. 7. He was 72 years old.

Hung taught at Cal Poly Pomona from 1969 until retiring in 1997, garnering the Outstanding Professor Award in 1991. During his tenure at the university, he helped to establish two degree programs: Agricultural Engineering in 1971 and Landscape Irrigation Science in 1984.

A well-known expert in his field, Hung authored numerous research papers and books, publishing in Chinese and English. Irrigation and Drainage Structure Design is used as a textbook in Taiwan. Other books include Landscape Irrigation Sprinkler Design and Management, Basic Hydraulics for Landscape, and Micro Irrigation Design and Management.

Hung is survived by his wife, Jean Yueh-Chin; a son, Henry; and two daughters, Jenny and Anne. Family, friends and colleagues gathered for a memorial service on Aug. 20 at Forest Lawn in Covina.
