CSU LEADER –
CSU Hosts Tourism Industry Panel at Collins School

California State University Chancellor Charles B. Reed and other CSU officials hosted a forum with leaders of the hospitality and tourism industry on June 2 at The Collins School of Hospitality Management. The event was an opportunity to discuss the CSU's contributions to the industry and the challenges that students working in that field will need to learn to address. English & Foreign Languages Commencement Reception

The English & Foreign Languages and Theatre departments are hosting a reception following the College of Letters, Arts & Social Sciences commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 12. Faculty, graduating English, Spanish and Theatre majors, and their guests are invited to attend the celebration from noon to 1 p.m. in the Breeze Way (located between the Theatre department and Music Recital Hall). Light refreshments will be served.

President Bush Announces Barbara Burke Among Recipients of Presidential Award of Excellence

President George Bush announced the recipients of the 2004 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) -- a program supported and administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Among the nine distinguished recipients is Cal Poly Pomona's Barbara Burke, a professor of chemistry and director of the Science Educational Enhancement Services (SEES) program.

Estate Planning Seminar

Cal Poly Pomona employees are invited to attend a free presentation about the estate planning process and the benefits involved on Thursday, June 16, 2-3:30 p.m., in the Bronco Student Center's Centaurus Room. The seminar will be presented by Karen J. Simonson, attorney at law and a partner in the Claremont law firm of Taylor, Simonson & Winter. Los Olivos Dining Commons Receives Award for Diwali Menu

Cal Poly Pomona Foundation Inc. Dining Services has been honored with a national award for the Los Olivos Dining Commons Diwali-themed menu from November 2004. The dining facility received a second place Loyal E. Horton Dining Award in the category of theme dinner from the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS).
