Internet connectivity to and from the Cal Poly Pomona campus was sporadic this morning because of a software problem at the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC). Network connectivity was inconsistent once the problem surfaced the evening of April 21 and continued until mid-morning April 22.
CENIC technicians have reprogrammed one of their network routers at a CENIC site in Tustin, Calif. Instructional & Information Technology (I&IT;) network engineers worked with their CENIC counterparts to troubleshoot and eliminate the disruptions.
Affected traffic included Web page connections, e-mail and streaming video. Normal traffic has resumed for all Internet applications.
CENIC is the Internet Service Provider for all CSU and UC campuses, selected private universities, California community colleges and state K-12 schools. For updates and additional information, contact the Help Desk at (909) 869-6776.
