Ann Ascher, administrative assistant in the Ethnic & Women?s Studies, College of Education & Integrative Studies, died of cancer on Thursday, July 3, at her home in Azusa. She was in her 70s.
Ascher worked at Cal Poly Pomona for seven years. Colleagues referred to Ascher as a warm, friendly and engaging person who reached out to everyone.
“Ann was good for EWS. She was able to bring her many years of experiences to the department,” says Gilbert Cadena, an EWS professor. “Faculty and students will be forever grateful for the countless things she did to improve the functioning of the department. Her laughter, her stories, her wit, her intelligence, her toughness, her professionalism, her support and her friendship will all be missed.”
Ascher is survived by her husband, Bob.
The campus community is invited to a memorial service on Thursday, July 17, 1-3 p.m. in the CLA Building, Heritage Conference Center (8th floor).
A scholarship will be created in honor of Ascher?s continued involvement and interest in higher education.
