Award-winning actor/writer Jude Narita will provide a benefit performance of her one-woman play ?Stories Waiting to be Told: The Wilderness Within? at Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
?Stories Waiting to be Told? celebrates Asian and Asian-American women (some of whom are Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Cambodian) as they redefine themselves within the American dream.
Narita is internationally recognized for her nuanced portrayals of Asian and Asian-American characters who truly reflect different heritage and cultures. Her stellar performances in ?Coming Into Passion: Song for a Sansei??which she also wrote and produced?won her the Los Angeles Drama Critic?s Circle Award, a Drama-Logue Award and VESTA award among others.
Tickets for Narita?s benefit performance at Cal Poly Pomona go on sale Monday, March 3. General admission for the performance is $25. A special package including premier seating, admission for two and a VIP post-performance reception with Narita is also available for $300. Proceeds from this performance will go toward the Michi & Walter Weglyn Endowed Chair in Multi-Cultural Studies at Cal Poly Pomona.
