Hilton Hotels CEO Serves as Distinguished Lecturer at The Collins School
Stephen F. Bollenbach,
president and CEO of Hilton
Hotels Corp., will speak at
The Collins School of Hospitality Management on April 3.

Hilton Hotels Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen F. Bollenbach was the 2003 Richard N. Frank Distinguished Lecturer, sponsored by The Collins School of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona.

Bollenbach discussed hospitality issues and how they are affected by the current economy on Thursday, April 3, in the Hilton Great Room at The Collins School.

Bollenbach was named president and CEO of Hilton Hotels Corporation in February 1996. Under his leadership, Hilton has grown and firmly enhanced its leadership position in the lodging industry with more than 2,100 hotels and 330,000 rooms. Bollenbach has overseen a complete transformation of the company including: the formation of a sales and marketing alliance between Hilton Hotels and Hilton International (owner of the Hilton brand outside the United States), which reunited the brands for the first time in 34 years; the acquisition of Bally Entertainment, which made Hilton the world?s largest gaming company; and the acquisition of some $1.5 billion of hotel real estate in markets with high barriers to entry. He spun off Hilton?s gaming operations in a tax-free transaction to shareholders to form Park Place Entertainment and acquired Promus Hotel Corporation in 1999. That acquisition resulted in the addition of several new brands to the Hilton portfolio including Doubletree; Embassy Suites Hotels; Hampton and Homewood Suites by Hilton.

Each year, the Richard N. Frank Lectureship Series gives students a unique opportunity to hear directly from the industry's leaders and legends as they bring hospitality management to life through their own real-world experiences.

Past distinguished lecturers have included Jackie Trujillo, chair of Harman Management Corp.; Richard Marriott, chairman of the board of directors of Host Marriott Corporation; James Collins, former chairman of Sizzler International Inc.; Kenneth Blanchard, author of The One Minute Manager; Walter Klenz, chairman and CEO of Beringer Wine Estates; and many others.
