Math Proficiency Up, English Down for Incoming
CSU Students

The percentage of California State University freshmen entering in fall 2002 who were fully proficient in both English and math rose by three percentage points over last year, to 41 percent, according to a new report on CSU students? remedial education needs. However, while incoming students? math proficiency rates continued to rise, the report showed a decrease in English proficiency rates from the previous year.

"The Vagina Monologues"

As part of a global movement to end violence against girls and women, Cal Poly Pomona will host performances of Eve Ensler's Obie Award-winning play, ?The Vagina Monologues,? Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in the University Theatre. A special performance completely in Spanish will be on Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.
This year?s performances will benefit the YWCA WINGS Domestic Violence Program and Cal Poly Pomona?s Get Smart: Stop Violence Grant Office. Additionally, 10 percent of proceeds will be given to agencies that specifically serve Native American women. Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students with identification.
